Solutions Engineering’s Videmation product is an effective Point of Sale (POS) software solution designed primarily for U.S., Canadian, and Latin American video retailers. Hundreds of stores improve their levels of customer service and profitability through the use of this application software and our accompanying services.  The application employs high-speed database access architectures that enable immediate access to customer and inventory related data on very inexpensive firmware (IBM compatible PC).  All aspects of the video retail business are supported in this application.  Interfaces are provided for bar code readers, electronic cash drawers, video image capture and retrieval (customer portrait validation), printers, and modems.  This system was originally released in 1987.  It was written completely in C for the MS DOS environment.  Even at that time Videmation had pop-up dialog windows with intelligent field entry range and type enforcement, context sensitive help, error trapping, and data protection.  As of 1999, Videmation for DOS was in Version 4.3 with full compliance with Y2K directives.  By the end of 1999 Videmation was re-engineered and rewritten in Visual C++ as a Windows application fully supported under Win95/98/NT/ME.  The salient features of the software include :
